How to find Original  Rudraksha Beads

The main issue of how to ascertain the genuineness and identification of the bead and how to do the classification of Nepal, Indonesia, or Haridwar, some basic points need to be kept in mind of how to test and carrying out a test in order to find the original rudraksha, however,

If we study fake rudraksha out of total beads following are a percentage of beads we may find. One Mukhi – 70% Gaurishanker – 10% Higher beads from 10 Mukhi to 21 Mukhi – 20 %of eight mukhi and above often made out of lower mukhi beads.

The most common method is to carve additional lines. Some fake beads are made of ordinary woods, betel nuts, or seeds of wild berries with the figures of shivling, snakes, or om, however, One way is to follow the X-ray technique whereby one can see the internal structure without damaging the beads but this test can work without much complications for rudraksha up to nine mukhis but for higher beads, it may not give 100% accurate results, X-ray from different angles may help to count the inner seeds.

Following simple procedures can be made for checking the originality of beads.

(1) A good and perfectly matured bead should sink in water but this does not mean that all rudraksha that does not sink in water is fake as such a genuine bead can also float in water if there is a hole in it and when the air is trapped.

(2) Rotating the beads between two copper coins is also not a correct procedure as any bead having a surface like that of rudraksha and having grooves and ups and downs can rotate in this condition.

(3) A proper examination of the beads with one’s own eye is the best method available for which one does not have to be an expert also one should not buy around one Mukhi even if it available covered with skin or leaves. Do not buy Gaurishanker having a flat end to end joint.

(4) Boiling in water for a minimum of two hours shall bring out whether the bead created using an artificial joint.

(5) Always follow the guidelines to procure perfect beads that not damaged, have a hard body, hard thorny yet smooth surface, and have a natural hole.

(6) Predominant etching of om, shivling or Trishul should indicate that it is spurious although in some genuine beads such etching occurs.  – Nepal beads are generally larger in size and each line or Mukhi of Nepal rudraksha beads have depth and deep too as compared to Jave beads whose lines are not deep and have a line on the surface of the beads itself.

The best way of finding Nepal beads

lines of each face start from roots and ends from roots, however, identification of rare beads like Trijuti and 14 or higher Mukhi Rudraksha often difficult as more of fake beads available with extra lines made and complication arises because of a higher level of skills used by unscrupulous elements in creating fake beads like joining a section inside the bead.

Depending on the problem and on the basis of Priority, one can wear rudraksha initially in small numbers and use less expensive beads before opting for rare and expensive beads.

About Meru Yantra

Meru Yantra is a sacred geometrical design used in Hindu and Buddhist traditions for meditation and spiritual practices. It is considered a powerful tool for manifestation, healing, and balancing of energies.

The Meru Yantra consists of a three-dimensional pyramid-shaped structure, made of copper or brass, with nine layers of triangles that represent the various deities of Hinduism. Each layer has a specific mantra associated with it, and the vibrations of these mantras are believed to activate the energy centers or chakras in the body.

The Meru Yantra is used in various rituals and puja ceremonies to invoke the blessings of the divine and to attract abundance, prosperity, and well-being into one’s life. It is also used for cleansing negative energies and promoting inner peace and harmony.

To use a Meru Yantra, one must first purify it with water and light, and then place it on a clean cloth or altar. The Yantra can then be energized with the appropriate mantras and intentions and used for meditation, visualization, or other spiritual practices.

108 Names Of Lord Ganesha

108 Names of Lord Ganesha in Sanskrit

108 Names of Lord Ganesha in Sanskrit

108 Names Of Lord GaneshaGanesha, the elephant-headed god, is the son of Shiva and Parvati. The many differing accounts of his birth agree in describing it as occurring outside the womb.

In some versions he is created by Shiva alone, and in others, from the bodily fluids of Shiva andParvati mingling outside the body; but in most versions, such as that extracted here, he is created by Parvati alone.

A folk etymology of one of his names, Vinayaka (without a nayaka or leader, that is, peerless), relates it to his origin, that is, he is created without a male agent (nayaka). Parvati creates rather than produces him. She fashions him as the jewish Yahweh creates man out of clay. Her creative role is distinct from the common view of woman as merely a receptacle for the creative male seed.

She rubs Ganesha out of her body-this recalls the churning action that is so creative in Hindu myth-from the Puranic churning of the ocean to the Vedic friction of the two female firesticks which produces the fire god.

In the Shiva Purana , Parvati clearly chooses to create Ganesha to protect her autonomous space from constant invasion by her husband. Her female friends (whose names, Jaya and Vijaya, mean Victory) suggest this act of creation to Parvati; it is while they are bathing with her that Shiva is prevented by Ganesha from entering the bath, and they urge Ganesha on to war against Shiva and the other male gods.

Parvati goes on to create female beings parthenogenetically, to aid Ganesha in his defense of her. Although Shiva triumphs by brute force, his triumph is temporary. He and the other gods are terrified by Parvati’ s irresistible power, and Ganesha has to be revived and honored As guardian of the door, a role he plays for Parvati, his image is placed at the entrance of homes and shops.

He is the god of wisdom and learning, often represented reading or writing. He is the scribe of the Mahabharata, which he wrote at Vyasa’ s dictation. He also represents the fusing of animal, human and divine powers, through the fusion of elephant head with human body and divine four arms.

FAQS About Rudraksha

Rudraksha Bead
Rudraksha Beads

The number of People wearing Rudraksha is growing. Some of these wearers are keen observers and thoroughly analytical as they are educated and have noted down their experience, which they have willingly shared with us. However, Rudraksha is amazing beads of nature, and their effects on human beings shall continue to baffle all of us. Therefore, it should not be considered on the same plane as any other alternative therapy or approach like pyramids, gemstones.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers about Rudraksha bead.

(1) How to get the maximum benefit of Rudraksha

Rudraksha beads or mala should be washed with water daily. Just keep your beads or mala below a water tap for few seconds and then pad dry or wear directly. Apply any edible oil once a month over the beads for better shine and longer life.

Beads should be worn for longer periods and wear even at night during sleep, provided your sleep is not disturbed. If wearing a Gaurishankar rudraksha or Sawar, it must be removed at night. Otherwise, the bead may get damaged. If taken out at night, you may wear them immediately on waking up with chanting of “Om Namah Shivaya:” or beej mantra. Alternatively, you may wear them after taking a bath.

It has been observed that if Rudraksha is blessed by regular Abhishek or pooja, particularly on special occasions of holy festivals, then the wearer gets better results. Therefore, whenever you visit a temple or a famous shrine of any religious order or your Guru’s place, concentrate your attention on your bead and chant “Om Namah Shivaya,” and pray for positive energies to bless you.

On a solar eclipse, after bathing, chanting mantras placing the washed Rudraksha in front of you proves beneficial. Rudraksha-Abhishek is not done during the eclipse, and so mantra chanting is beneficial.

(2) How much time is required to sense a change in body, mind, status, or a given situation after wearing Rudraksha?

Aura becomes powerful soon after a Rudraksha comes in contact with the body. In other words, it becomes sharp and bigger. When beads comes in contact with the body, these aura layers become stabilized almost immediately. However, long-lasting results and recovery from diseases may occur after some time. Correct selection and proper wearing of Rudraksha helps in balancing Chakras. Various trials and efforts are required to balance these chakras, including chanting proper mantras or getting the blessing of different Gods/Goddesses who bless the specific chakras.

For physical disorders, a minimum time of 20 days is required to feel and experience the change, and for reducing the level of anxiety or stress, about 40 days are optimum. For a change of luck and removal of obstacles, one needs to constantly wear a beads for 60 days to notice its positive effects. Anxiety and fear are diminished, and the effects of the evil eye, jealousy, and black magic almost disappear immediately.

The above time frame is approximate and varies from person to person and is grossly dependent on situations. Therefore, these beads are not magical. However, the wearer starts taking the thoughtful decision and reaping its benefits within the specified time frame.

(3) For meditation and self-control, which type of Rudraksha should be chosen?

A Kantha of 5 mukhi large sizes beads is good for meditation. However, for a higher level of meditation and to reach a near-zero thought level of meditation, A combination using large-sized beads of 3 mukhi, 5 mukhi and 9 mukhi, 11 mukhi, 14 mukhi, Guarishankar, and 1 mukhi should be used to make a higher level Dhyan mala or meditation mala.

Long-term usage of 14 mukhi over the forehead, particularly during meditation, gives excellent concentration. Rudraksha mala is like a storehouse of energy, which helps you keep powerful Urja from meditation or good deeds within yourself.

(4) What is the best way of doing pooja of Rudraksha at home, whether it should first time or any time?

Arrange the following items to prepare Panchumrit – Pure water with a small amount of Ganga water 50ml, milk, Ghee, and a Diya lamp to light it, curd, and honey (20 ml each).

Camphor, sandalwood powder, rice grains, flower preferable white and water.

  • Steps to be followed

Sit facing East or north in a comfortable posture. Light the lamp with Ghee. Wash the bead using water and then wipe it clean with a cloth. Place bead in a tray. Pour Panchamrit over Rudraksha using a spoon and chant with each pouring “Om Namah Shivaya.” Finish all Panchamrit in this way. Offer Sandalwood paste to bead and then light incense sticks and camphor and offer flowers to Rudraksha.

Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 times or chant Rudraksha beej mantra or each mukhi and then wear bead. Pray to Lord Shiva and express your wish.

(5) Whether Nepal beads are better than Indonesian beads?

Physical characteristics and experience show that Indonesian beads of 1 mukhi, 2 mukhi, and 3 mukhi are effective and can be used comfortably if the Nepal variety is out of reach due to cost considerations. ( 1 mukhi Indonesia n is the only option considering 1 mukhi Nepal variety which is difficult to get).

Beyond 3 mukhi, the clarity of lines and distribution of inner compartments start getting jumbled up, and effectiveness may be questionable. Nevertheless, one can symbolically wear higher mukhi Indonesian beads in large numbers, and some wearers have also testified to them for good results.

Another advantage of higher mukhi Indonesian beads is their purity, as it is not easy to duplicate. Indonesian Rudraksha, as the lines are only on the bead’s surface, Nepal beads have deeper lines. Therefore, they can be carved artificially, which is a common practice in higher mukhi Rudraksha beyond 8 mukhi unless they are source from a reliable supplier.

(6) Should one wear Rudraksha while having a bath or while going to the toilet?

Yes, but the bracelet should be removed if going to the toilet.

(7) Can Rudraksha be worn while going to a funeral ground?

Any of our holy scripture imposes no restriction. However, as per the tradition prevailing, all articles symbolizing the power of energy sources should be taken off the body (like gemstone, Rudraksha, Yantras, etc.) while places like a funeral ground.

(8) For testing the facets of beads, the X-ray technique method is catching up, but in higher mukhi beads, the compartments are difficult to see.

Normally in the case of higher mukhi, beads compartments are overlapped and need a radiologist’s services and may require the use of a CT scan to correct the conclusion. Normally over 8 mukhi get only 50% or even less, fully grown or developed compartments or seeds. A properly nurtured fruit ripened on the tree normally yields a seed that should be visible in an S ray, but even here, Seeds may not be found in all the compartments.

(9) What is the best way to select the type of Rudraksha required by a person

Despite best efforts, no method can be fully relied upon to match your needs exactly; problems are sometimes complex, their root causes may vary. Astrological predictions may differ from person to person. Pinpointing a disturbed or unbalanced chakra is a futile exercise as no perfect instrument has been invented so far to observe unbalanced chakra. The numerological evaluation also gives multiple options, and therefore we have to live with the fact that some variations may be possible while selecting optimum Rudraksha for you. One should keep the mind open to keep on trying different beads. However, make sure to wear a basic 5 mukhi beads and at least one of the following 7 mukhi, 9 mukhi, 10 mukhi, 11 mukhi, or 14 mukhi

  • For good health, always choose – 3 Mukhi, 5 Mukhi.
  • 12 Mukhi Rudraksha for blood pressure, diabetes, or cardiac disorders.
  • 7 Mukhi Rudraksha for body pain.
  • 6 Mukhi, 13 Mukhi, and Gauri Shankar for fertility.
  • 3 Mukhi, 9 Mukhi, and 10 Mukhi for fear and anxiety.

Crystal

Everything About Crystal

The more you understand about Crystals, the more effective they are. In this section you will find about background information on how crystal are formed, how to choose and care for your crystals, how to use them for healing and decoration and the way to dedicate them.

Dedicating and programming your Crystals helps them to work more efficiently. It is part of the ritual of working with crystals. As crystal are powerful beings in their own right, they need to approached with respect. Many people like to have a crystal day when they cleanse their crystals and then meditate with them to attune more strongly to their energy. Doing this regularly your crystal to talk to you and to show you how can use them to enhance your life and well being. Taking the time to cleanse your crystals is extremely important. Crystal are efficient absorbers and transmitters of energy. One of their functions is to cleanse and transmute negative energies. If you leave your crystals to do this without regular cleansing most become saturated and unable to do their work, though a few are self cleaning .

How Crystals are formed

A Crystal is a solid body with a geometrically regular shape. Crystals were created as the earth formed and they have continued to metamorphose as the planet itself has changed. Crystals are the earth’s Dna a chemical imprint for evolution. They are miniature storehouses, containing the records of the development of the earth over millions of years and bearing the inedible memory of the powerful forces that shaped it. Some have been subjected to enormous pressure, others grew in chambers deep underground. Some were laid down in layers, others dripped into being, all of which affects their properties and the way they function. Whatever form they take, their crystalline structure can absorb, conserve, focus and emit energy, especially on the electromagnetic waveband.

Crystals are built from one of seven possible geometric forms, triangles, squares, rectangles, hexagons or trapeziums. These forms lock together into a number of potential crystal shapes, which have generic names based on their internal geometry.

At the heart of a crystal is the atom and its component parts. As atom is dynamic, consisting of particles rotating around a center in constant motion. So although a crystal may look outwardly serene, it is actually a seething molecular mass vibrating at a certain frequency. This is what gives a crystal its energy.

Some crystals such as quartz arise from the fiery gases and molten mineral in the earth’s center, superheated, they rise toward the surface, propelled by stresses caused by movement of huge plates on the earth’s surface. As gases penetrate the crust and meet solid rock, they cool and solidify- a process that may take eons or may be fast and furious. If the process has been relatively slow or if the crystals grows in a gas bubbles then large crystals can grow.

Crystals carry the same power and jewellery can be selected not just on the basis of its outward attraction. Wearing crystals, or simply having one in close proximity, can boost your energy (orange carnelian), clean your space (Amber), and attract wealth (citrine). Carefully positioned, crystals can change your life. You can choose stones to enhance your intuition, increase mental abilities (green tourmaline) and boost confidence (Hematite). You can select tiger eye for abundance and for healing (smithsonite) or attract love (rhodonite).

Crystal Protection

Certain crystals such as smoky quartz and black tourmaline, have the ability to absorb negativity and electromagnetic smog. They put out pure , clean energy. Wearing a black tourmaline around your neck protects you against electromagnetic emanations, including cell phones and computers and turns back psychic attack. Amber will protect your energies. A large smoky quartz cluster or shaped point can look stunning as a decorative object, belying its practical cleaning purpose. If you find that computers have a debilitating effect on you, place a fluorite cluster beside you will be amazed at the difference in how you feel and your computer will work more in harmony with you.

Crystal Attraction

A Large citrine is high decorative. A beautiful object in its own right, it will not only attract wealth but will also help you to keep it. Place it in the wealth corner of your home. Selenite is one of the newer stones. Its pure white, finely ribbed form looks angelic and not surprisingly, it attracts angelic energy into your life.

Everything About Shree Yantra

About Shree Yantra

  • The Worship of Shree Vidya has been Popular in India from very ancient times. Swami Gaurpad the teacher of Adi Shankaracharya was a worshipper of Shri Vidya.
  • He initiated Shankara into the worship of Shri Vidya and Shankara wrote a very enlightening book on this subject. The worship of Shri Yantra has been very popular among Shaktas, Vedantacharyas, Vaishnavas, and Shaivas.
  • The Third Mahavidya out of the ten, Known as Shodashi is Shri Vidya. She is known by various names – Sundari, Lalita, Tripursundari, Shodashi, and Bala.
  • To Worship, Shri Vidya or Shri Yantra has to understand her yantra, which the most fascinating of all and known as Shri Yantra. Shri Chakra or Lalita Chakra.
  • The Worship of Shree Yantra, the method of Constructing it, and its complete explanation are given in saundariya Lahiri. Shree Yantra is very eye-catching and powerful
  • .It is constructed with an intersection of nine triangles. Four of these triangles are pointing upward and five downward. The four upward-pointing triangles are Shiva triangles and the five downward point triangles are Shakti triangles.
  • A combination of these nine triangles makes Shri yantra the most dynamic of all yantras. For the purpose of Worship, a Shree yantra is engraved on copper, silver, and gold plates as a flat line drawing, or sculpted from stone and precious gems (quartz, Crystals, etc.).
  • This form of Shri yantra looks like a pyramid, and there are many such yantras available from ancient times.

Nine Figures of Shri Yantra

Shree Yantra usually represents the body of the Goddess Tripursundari, although some scriptures refer to it as the naval of the divine mother.

A sculpted form of the divine mother is available in which the Shri Yantra is inscribed in the navel. Shree Yantra is also known as the the yantra of cosmos.

In Kamala Vilas, it is said that Shri yantra is constructed on the same principles on which the human organism is constructed.

Just as the body has nine chakras, so a Shri yantra has nine chakras as follow 1 Bindu (2) Trikon – the central triangle, which contains the Bindu (3) Ashtar – a group of eight triangles outside the trikon (4) Antar Dashar – A group of ten inner triangles (5) Bahir Dashar –  A group of ten outer triangles (6) Chatur Dashar – A group of fourteen triangles (7) Ashta Dal – a ring of eight lotus petals (8) Shodash Dal – A ring of Sixteen lotus petals (9) Bhupur – the Square form with four gates

  • The word Chakra in Shri yantra means a group, not the psychic centers of Kundalini Yoga, but there is a definite relationship between the nine figures of Shri Yantra and the nine psychic centers
  • Shri Yantra is the cosmic form ( the diagram of evolution and development of the cosmos)
  • the form of the human organism (the diagram of inner circuits of the body)
  • the form of the goddess Tripur Sundari (because the goddess is energy, which pervades the entire phenomenal world)
  • The five downward-pointing triangles i.e Shakti triangles manifested as five tanmatras (sound, touch, sight, taste, and smell) five mahabhutas (akasha, air, fire, water, and earth), five sense organs (ear, skin, eyes, tongue, and nose)  in the human body these five elements are skin, nerves, flesh, fat, and bones.
  • The four upward-pointing triangles, which are shiva triangles, represent the male energy and exist as Chitta, buddhi, ahamkara (self-consciousness or feeling of I), and manas (mind).

Bindu

  • Bindu, the point inside the central triangle and the center of the yantra, is also known as Sarva Anandmayi Chakra, which means a Chakra of total bliss. and the seed of the entire universe, and it is beyond time and space.
  • In this Bindu, Kameshwar (Lord of Kama or desire) and Kameswari (the Shakti of the desire for final union) remain ever united. Kameshwar and kameshwari are in human organisms above the som chakra in Sahasrar chakra.
  • During meditation on the Shri Yantra, worship of Shiva and Shakti in an eternal union is done by concentrating on the Bindu. The worship of Ishtha Devata and Guru is also done by focussing on Bindu.
  • Bindu is the last point in the yantra, but it is the center of the yantra, it is the beginning. Without knowing this point, the construction of a yantra is impossible.
  • This makes the Bindu the prime cause, the seed of the yantra. The act of worship of Shri Yantra finishes with the meditation of the Bindu. Trikon Also known as Sarva Siddhi Prad Chakra, the trikon is the main triangle, in which the Bindu is located.
  • It is the seed of the tree of creation and remains inside it in its subtle form. The three sides of the trikon are created by three goddesses – Kameshwari, Brijeshwari, and Agamalinin who are accompanied by three gunas (sattva, rajas, and tamas).

  • The Ashtar is supposed to be the real Shri yantra. The eight triangles of Ashtar and one trikon-these nine are called the Navdwar chakra, which is the foundation of the phenomenal world.
  • The worship of the Ashtar, trikon, and Bindu gives protection, power, and bliss and takes away all kinds of spiritual, mental, and physical ailments.

Antardashar

  • Antardashar the group of ten triangles that surround the Ashtar is also known as the sarv rakshakar chakra – a chakra that provides all kinds of protection.
  • In this chakra lies the power to protect because Protection is achieved not from outer but from inner disciplines.

  • Meditation on this chakra helps one get control over prana and control over prana gives control over the mind. Chaturdashi Chaturdashar, a group of fourteen outermost triangles or yonis, known as Sarva saubhagya Dayak chakra.
  • Fourteen Shaktis residing in the Yonis and these goddesses control the fourteen nadis (1) Mind (2) Buddhi (3) Chitta (4) Ahamkara and ten indriyas.
  • This way these goddesses constitute an outside form of the yantra and the body. This is evident by the name Sarva Saubhagya Dayak chakra-a chakra that gives all good fortune.

Bhupur, the square with four gates, is also known as Traiyelok Mohan Chakra, the Chakra that attracts the three lokas (planes).

Physical (bhuloka), Astral (Bhuvarloka), and celestial (swargloka). Usually, Bhupur is the seat of the yantra – the dwelling place of the Shakti, representing the gross material phenomenon, in which she dwells as long as the cycle of creation and preservation lasts.

All guardians of the eight directions (dikpalas) are present in this bhupur. Ten Siddhis and eight mothers are present in this bhupur. This Chakra is a meeting place of the three currents Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, this symbolically means the meeting place of the gross and subtle energies.

Lord Shiva Worship

Lord Shiva Worship- Guidelines (According to Shiva Purana)

Sage Soota obliged about Shiva Worship

I will tell you the Shiva worship regime as revealed by Brahma. A faithful must wake up at early dawn. Remember Guru, Shiva, Vishnu, and then Brahma. After that invoke Shiva to pray for a blessing day. Get over with answering to natural duties before brushing teeth, washing, and cleaning oneself besides shaving in case of a male.

While bathing Chant mantras one’s accustomed to. After putting on a new dress, say a prayer at a peaceful place. Take a breather and enter the pooja room with a calm mind for the formal worship of Shiva. Sit cross-legged on an appointed seat on a spread on the floor.

First of all, invoke Ganesha and offer worship. Install Lingam bringing to mind the three-eyed divine form of Shiva. Start worship with Chants of Om and Om Namah Shiva mantra. Keep the bowl of water, oblation material, and flowers ready beside achamana. Invoke Shiva with Vasudeva and Ishana Mantras. His idol may be washed with water treated with sandalwood and aromatics. Oint the idol with Panchamrita (milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) with a chant of “Om”. For lingam, put kusha grass, camphor, sandalwood, and flowers of any kind over it. Then, pour clean water or milk on it in a steady thin stream. While doing so, mantras dedicated to Shiva be incanted. Offer dhoop, deep, tambul, and naivedya with mantra chanting. After offering water pray to Lord Seeking forgiveness for lapses and errors and blessing for success and betterment.

The worship of Shiva is extremely rewarding and wish-fulfilling besides begetting one the salvation.

Vastu Purush Mandala

Vastu Purush Mandala and its Mystery

About

The Vastu Purush Mandala contains the essence of Vastu Shastra, the Vedic Space Alchemy. To Understand the deep secrets of Vastu, it is imperative to know the meaning of the Vastu Purush Mandala and how it came into existence. The Understanding of it is more natural for those who have some depth in meditation and can get established in the Vigynamaya Kosha perceiving with their Manas Chakshu.

The Vastu Purush Mandala is the Omnipresent soul residing in a building. When you observe the energy fields, you will find that they develop different stages of the construction – starting from the scene of Vacant plot to the digging of the land, to the laying of the foundation and then to the completion of the building and finally to the point when it inhabited by the people. When you observe all this through your mind-senses, you unravel the secrets of the Mandala.

Vastu Purush Mandala and how it came into existence

There is an engaging story mentioned at the beginning of the Vastu Shastra. The story is about a fierce war between the Gods (Devtas) and the demons (asuras). In this war, Lord Shiva supported the devtas, while Andhakasur was fighting for the asuras. During this war, some drops of sweat fell on the Earth. This led to the birth of a strong and giant-sized male, who scared the devtas and asuras, like. The devtas thought he was one of the asuras, while the latter mistook him to be a devta. So the fight halted. The devtas and asuras together took this giant male to Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma called this giant, his manas Putra and named him Vastu Purush. In this manner, it came into existence. This Vastu Purush then lay down to sleep in a specific posture. Some parts of his body were inhabited by the devtas and the others by the asuras.

From then onwards, Lord Brahma ordered that full attention be paid to the Vastu Purush, While constructing a building, town, pond, temple, and other structures, otherwise, it be eaten by the asuras. Whoever revered the Vastu Purush would be supported by the devtas in his cause. Their problem solving, and the devtas and the asuras happily bade Lord Brahma farewell.

All Hindu Rituals, Creation of Mandalas, Yantras, Karmakands, Vedas, Yajnas, etc, have a common base, which is the Vastu Purush Mandala. In this way through images and our inner senses. We can reach or connect the Mandala to the physical world so that this human brain can understand it.

Shivalingam

Origin of Shivlingam (According to Shiva Purana)

Spoke by NandiKeshwara (Soota) :

Once, in the early beginning of the creation creator Brahma, the lord with five faces sitting atop a lotus approached to Lord VIshnu, the most handsome lord who was then sleeping on his serpent-bed of Adishesha. His wide Laxmi was beside him.

Brahma had grown an ego for being the creator of the universe. He considered himself to be the Holy father of all. As Vishnu did not rise up to receive him, he took it as an affront to him. Brahma called out to him to wake up to show due honour to the father of the creation. so much so that Brahma addressed vishnu as “son”
Vishnu lost his temper as Brahma had come into existence on the lotus top that had sprouted out of his navel. Thus, vishnu thought he infact, was the father of Brahmaa, who had no right to admonish him. After all he was the sustainer of the creation. However vishnu used restraint and smiled. But the words spoken by him were sarcastic. He asked why the son had came to his father and disturned his sleep? Then he began to drag about his power, greatness and divine qualities. Brahma retaliated by citing his own virtues and craftsmanship. Soon the two were engaged in heated exchange of unsavoury words. Their altercation took ugly.

Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva

The Word Shiva means auspiciousness and prosperity. The reverse of Shiva is Vash meaning to enlighten, therefore the one who enlightens is Shiva. Shiva is absolute, self radiant, and illuminates the world. The following are the forms of Lord Shiva known to us.

Forms of Lord Shiva

Rudra

Rudra was known as a destroyer and a fearful God. Rudra means the one who cries (Ru) and the one who runs away while crying (dry). The one who vanquished and overcomes it is called Rudra. Rudra’s subordinates are many and are known by different names. These subordinates reside in heaven, destroy evildoers, protect the righteous, vanquish obstacle of the yogis, and serve Lord Shiva Perpetually. The 11 Rudras as per Shrimad Devibhagwat is Har, Bahuroop, Trayambak, Aoarajit, Shambu, Vrishakapi, Kapardi, Kaivat, Mrigiyadh, Sharva, and Kapaali.

Ardhanareeshwar

Creation and Life Cycle of this universe is not possible without the unification of male and female forms of human. Lord Shiva took the Ardhanareeshwar form in order to represent this aspect of this mankind. This Ardhanareeshwar form of Lord Shiva has equal male and female powers.

Kalbhairav:  is one of the eight Bhairavs and was created from Lord Shiva’s anger. After Lord Shiva has severed the head of Daksha (Son of Brahma) through Kalbhairav, he directed Kalbhairav to stay at Kashi, Kalbhairav is thus the guardian of Devi peeth.

Virbhadra: has made Vetal his vehicle. It is believed that Virbhadra is the first to worship Shiva in the linga form.

Vetal: literally means the one who can dance to his tune. Vetal is also called Agyavetal, Jwalavetal, or Pralayvetal. Idols of vital are made of wood and many villages he acts as a village deity.

Nataraj

Shiva as Natraj is a promoter of dance and He is a pioneer among actors. Just as he is the dancer he is also the observer. The Nataraj’s dance form is to liberate a person from the great illusion. The dance in which sound (naad) in every cell of the body is that of Shiva is called Tandav dance.

Kirat

This is the Kapalik form of Lord Shiva. He is engrossed in various sports of pleasure and Bhagwati Uma accompanies him.

 Shiva Family

Wife – Parvati

Known by several names like Shakti and as Sati (daughter of Daksha), She is worshipped along with Lord Shiva wherever He is worshipped in human form. In the linga form, Shakti is placed on the backside of the Linga and is also worshipped.

Sons (two)

Kartikeya: He is known as Skand and in southern India known as Subramanya or Murugan. He had killed the powerful demon Tarakasur.

Ganesh: He is first among all the Gods to be worshipped due to his great mind and devotion to his parents. He is a great writer of the epics as told by Maharishi Vyas and is a lovable God by all and helps in removing obstacles from one’s life.

Nandi

Nandi in the form of a bull is Shiva’s vehicle. He is paid obeisance before Shiva. In temples of Shiva, Nandi stands one leg and the other three are bent at the knees. This signifies that in Kaliyug, righteousness exists only to the extent of one fourth.

Lord Shiva is known by several names because of his multifold qualities and attributes. A thousand names of Shiva are recited in Shiva sahasranaam.

Physical features of Lord Shiva

Ganga – The Stream of consciousness of Ganga comes from the combined energy of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The energy has its origin in the toe of Vishnu and then is collected by Brahma and given a charming divine form. She is cursed by Durvasa Rishi for her impertinence and is forced to descend from the higher lokas to Earth as a river. Before Ganga descends on Earth, She is held captive in the locks of Shiva and becomes charged with the energy of Shiva.

Moon – Lord Shiva adorns Chandrama (moon) on his forehead. The one which gives pleasure is the meaning of Chandrama. It is also known that Moon (Som) is responsible for the growth and internal powers of all herbs. It is a powerful ornament adorned by Lord Shiva.

The Third Eye

The Third Eye of Shiva is located above the middle point of the eyebrows. It is also the greatest seat of extrasensory energy.  everything in the universe. He can perceive events in the past, present, and future as well. The Ajna chakra gets activated by the Third eye.

The Serpent

Serpents are ladders in the yog science whereby the sadhak holds the tail of the serpent and climbs up. Shiva adorns serpents at nine sites on his body. One on the head, one around the neck, one on each arm, one on each wrist, one around the waist and one at each thigh.

Holy Ash

All those who take birth blend with ash. Bhasma is the ash of the one who is born. In Shiva pooja, the application of bhasma on the body after bath is the desired ritual.

Tiger Skin as a garment

Tiger Skin represents rajas and tamas attitudes and Lord Shiva wears this skin after killing a tiger. It is to establish that the mind must follow the satvik mode with purity only to achieve peace and tranquility.

Flowers of Dhatura

Dhatura is a wildflower having intoxicating properties but in appearance it is beautiful. The use of this flower only indicates the same feature of rajas and tamas and that Lord Shiva symbolizes the power to capture all that is harmful to the ordinary people.

Damru

It is a musical instrument and resembles a hand drum with two strings and drubbing balls. Sound from this drum had created the Maheshwari sutras, which are also known as the 14 pratyahara of Sanskrit language.

As Pashupati Shiva adorns pinaka, parasu (axe), pas (sling), yog sand, Trishul fire, and Khatwang. He wears Rudraksha mala which is an essential part of his ornaments. The rudraksha malas decorate his wrists, neck, biceps, and head, like all chosen ornaments of the lord, rudraksha has a meaningful application and it is from a power class.

Lord Shiva is

(1) Yogi – Performs severe penances and is a great yogi. He is one God who chants the supreme Lord’s name continuously. He is always seated in a bandha or mudra.

(2) Helpful – He goes to any extent to help others. He drank the poison that came out of the churning of the oceans as he knew if it falls on the universe, it will be the end of the universe.

(3) Ashutosh – The one who can be most easily pleased.

(4) Master of Spirits – Worshipper of Shiva is not possessed by the spirits.

Namah Shivaya Mantra

Chanting the name of Lord Shiva “Namah Shivaya” is a Panchakshari mantra, which finds mention in rudradhyaye. When it is prefixed with sacred syllable Om, it becomes Om Namah Shivaya, the six-letter Shadakshari mantra.

The Spiritual Meaning of this mantra is

Na: The foremost deity of all the regions

Ma: The bestower of Supreme spiritual knowledge and destroyer of the greatest sins

Shi: Benevolent, serene and responsible for the initiation by Lord Shiva

Va: the representative of a bull as the vehicle

Ya: the auspicious abode of supreme bliss and Lord Shiva.

Usage of Om with panchakshari mantra is helpful in gaining energy to blend Sagun with Nirgun. Om Chanting should be done with great devotion and patience.

Intellectuals will realize how their creative minds can get boost and skills sharpened if they can meditate keeping Shiva in their focus.

Goddess Mahakali

Goddess Kali

Incarnation of Kali

There is the story about the incarnation of Goddess Kali in Devi Bhagwat Puran. Once upon a time two Danavs(demonic forces), Shumbh and Nishumbh undertook hard penances to please the creator, Brahma, and obtained from him the boon of being unconquerable by any man. After acquiring the power which came from boon, they become invincible and started conquering the three worlds. Bhuloka(earth), Bhuvarloka(astral plane), and Swargloka (celestial plane, the dwelling place of the gods and sub gods ruled by Indra). They drove the gods and Subgods out of the Swargloka. Knowing that no male energy could conquer these demonic forces, the gods and sub gods, including Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer, collected on the bank of river Ganges and prayed to the Divine mother with mantra NAMO DEVAIYE.

Hearing their prayers, the Divine Mother was pleased and sent her Shakti the mother Guari, to help the Gods. Mother Gauri appeared before the gods and heard their story about the power of Shumbh and Nishumbh. She then assumed the ferocious of Kali and destroyed the evil forces of Shumbh and Nishumbh and their two general Chand and Mund.

Kali is thus mother Gauri, the present wife of Lord Shiva, in his destructive aspect is known as Mahakala and the Divine mother Gauri as Kali or Mahakali.

Spiritual Benefits of Goddess Kali

Kali is the goddess of this transformation, which is essential for the renewal of energy and spiritual growth. Attachment to the material form causes fear of death, this is basic fear rooted deep in our brain stem and obstacle in the path of spiritual growth.

Invoking Kali by spiritual forces can bring an end to this threat. Kali thus removes the fear of death, the basic insecurity for the first chakra. For the ignorant ones who are attached to their physical body and are eternally secure, She is ferocious, but for the gods, she is Gauri, who has assumed the form of Kali to help them.

When the material attachments are removed by purification (Shudd buddhi), Kali is pleased and the sadhak can have a pleasant Kundalini experience, which leads to the realm of Ananda (bliss) and transcends him to the region of eternity, where there is no fear of death. therefore, the maha vidya that removes ignorance that makes us the fear of death.

Kali Yantra

Kali Yantra is based on the one given in Shakta Pramod a very popular Shakti scripture.

Outside square is known as Bhupur, the seat of Kali yantra is the same as for any other yantra. The two lines around the Bhupur and gates form the layer of solid, liquid, and gaseous.

Eight petaled Lotus represents Prakriti in kali yantra, the manifested phenomenon 1. Akasha 2. Air 3. Fire 4. Water 5. Earth 6. Mind 7. Intellect 8. Ego

Three circles inside the eight-petalled Lotus symbolize the three aspects of time to which this eight-petal of the nominal existence contribute their karmas.

Three triangles overlapping each other represent the three Gunas – sattva, rajas, and tamas which are the three qualities of Shakti. In the center is Bindu the central point of meditation – the divine mother kali itself.

Yantra : A Visual tool

Yantras a visual tool that serve either as centering devices or as symbolic compositions of the energy pattern of diety. Diety pervades both yantra and mantra, as there is a difference between mind and body, so there is between yantra and mantra. Yantra is the body or form of the deity (devata) whereas mantra is the mind consciousness.

Definition of Yantra

The Word Yantra is used in two or more ways in Sanskrit.  It comes from the root yam which means support or holds. Yantra means tool in Sanskrit.

The First definition of Yantra which makes it beholder the essence of the energy of the deity, makes yantra a symbol, symbols are precise and crystallized means of expression, corresponding in essence to the inner life.

Yantra as a tool is used to withdraw consciousness from the outer world and direct it to the inner world to help sadhak go beyond the normal framework of the mind to the altered state of consciousness known as turiya.

Grammar

Yantra is composed of Square on the outside with four projections forming a T structure, Circles, a row of lotus petals, and some triangular forms inside the lotus petals. Sometimes there are two triangles overlapping each other, making a six-pointed star.

The Point: Bindu

A point called Bindu is the most powerful yantra and holds a very significant position in the yantra and center of the drawing. The entire drawing is thus a projection around this center. Meditation or concentration on this point works as a uniting force and brings the mind toward abstract concentration which is used as a means to self-realization.

The Circle

A Circle is an expansion of a point. The Point is the most condensed form of energy and the circle is its extension.

The Triangle

After the point and the circle, a triangle is the simplest form and is composed of three-line to make a pattern or form. In evolution, fire is the first element to have form and the triangle represents the fire element.

Lotus Petal

Lotus petal in a yantra usually appears inside a circle, which itself is inside a square- the bhupur. These lotus petals are known as Chandra mandala and the circle outside is known as Surya Mandala.

Whenever this Surya Mandala is portrayed in lotus petals, the number of the petals is twelve, representing the twelve signs of the zodiac. The Chandra Mandala is shown with sixteen petals because the moon has sixteen Kalas.

Direction

Unlike a map, a yantra has east at the top and west at the bottom, south at the right and north at the left. Each of the eight directions is ruled by gods and goddesses and the symbols of these energies are portrayed outside the bhupur.

Varieties of Yantras

Yantras that represent any form of the Divine mother is called Shakta Yantras. Ten forms of the Divine mother yantra (Dasmahavidya) come in Shakta yantras.

Vaishnava Yantras are related to Vishnu and include Ram yantra, Vishnu yantra, Shri Gopal yantra, and hanuman yantra.

Shaiva Yantras are related to Shiva and Shaiva – Bhairav yantra, Mahamritunjay, and mritsanjivni yantras

Architectural yantras are used for the ground plan of temples and include Mandala yantras to engrave on the roof and Chatra Yantras on the top of the seat of the goddess.

Astrological Yantra is used in working with the energy of the nine planets: sun, moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu.

Numerical Yantras are composed not of basic geometrical forms but of numbers. Some of them are composed of squares and are used as a talisman.

Work of Yantras

Yantra performs all functions which are done by mantra and are more powerful as a centering device because it is based on fixed laws of geometry.

With the help of mantras Pranapratishtha, the invoking of prana is necessary for a yantra or an idol is done. By Mantra the deity is installed in the yantra and this process is invocation or pranapratishtha.

Yantras and the elements

The Elements produce different effects in yantra sadhana. Any worship starting in a particular element enriches the sadhak with a character of the element.

Earth gives stability, patience, inspiration, mental quietness, physical comforts, and success in sadhana.

Water gives respect, Love, Satisfaction, knowledge, and alertness

Fire gives excitement, a hurrying nature, obstacles, destructive tendencies, and mental problems.

Air, if it suits the nature of aspirant, helps to achieve the desired goal, otherwise, it brings craziness, bad name, disrespect, ignorance, and nervousness

Akasha increases spiritual elements, love of knowledge, and spirituality. It opens the mind to receive knowledge and increases intuition.

The best element of yantra and mantra sadhana is earth and the second best is water. The fire should only be used for hard tasks, however, Akash is good.

Havan

Homa or Havan : Fire Worship

Homa or Havan

is fire worship. Fire is visible divine energy that can be seen and felt and is said to be mediator between humans and gods .Havan is performed to please Subgods. The mediator between these gods and the Subgods and human beings is the fire god. So the gift to these gods is the emotion on which they survive and it is offered to them through fire worship.

God performs many kinds of functions, he is known by many names, for performing each job, he has to shape to himself into different form i.e there appear so many gods, but the sadhak knows that all the names are his name and all the forms are his form.

When he creates, he is called Brahma, he preserves, he is called Vishnu, he destroys he is called Shiva. When he brings forth energy of heat and light he is called Sun.

This division of jobs creates many sides, many names forms of God. These gods are not the supreme, but one aspect of the supreme so they are less in power. Supreme is Omnipotent and Brahma is one little part of him as Creator, Vishnu is one little part of him as preserver and Shiva is one part of him as destroyer.

Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are three main rays of his light. Then there are other energies through which three work, They are called Sub gods. Indra, King of gods of heaven, is responsible for rain. Varun is god of water, Kuber is god of wealth, Agni is god of fire, Pavan is god of forty-nine types of air. Prajapati is the creator, Vishwakarma is the god of crafts.

Purpose and Process of Homa

Kund

Homa is performed in Kund. This Kund should be made according to amount of fire to be created and if big logs of wood are being used, the Kund will be big.

For normal homa the aspirant should measure the place with the hands. The kund is usually like an inverted pyramid, narrow at the bottom and broad on the top. The bottom part should be a square of about twelve finger with of the one performing the homa. The top should be one and half times the bottom.  It is best if the kund is made by digging an inverted pyramid like opening in the ground keeping the bottom narrow and top broad.  Then a vedi (fireplace) is made by raising the level of the kund above the ground with bricks.

Fuel

Wood to be used as fuel for the wire worship must come from certain prescribed trees. If no mention of wood is made, one can take any wood that burns easily without creating much smoke. In india the wood from a mango tree is most often used. Pine wood or other oily woods should be used only when mango wood or any other oil free burning wood is not available.

Samigri

Samigri means material. The material used in homa or havan is known as havan samigri. This samigri is a combination of thirty six herbs. It purifies the atmosphere and smells very good like incense. In India the herbs are available in the market. One Should add some ghee and powdered raw sugar to the samigri.

Ghee

Clarified butter or ghee is available in Indian food stores. Ghee made from Clarified cow butter should be used in homa- not the ghee made from vegetable oils.

Ahuti

Ahuti is the offering to the fire,  Ahuti can be given by pouring a small spoonful of ghee into the Kund where the fire has been lit or it can be given by pouring a small amount of samigri into the kund. The one giving ahuti of samigri should thus hold the samigri in the right hand, keeping the index and little fingers apart.

When the homa is performed, the content present in the samigri are burned and get converted into gaseous form of smell, the smell mixes in the atmosphere, the same atmospheric air enters the breath of the one doing the homa and those who are in the vicinity.  This air contains all the chemicals of the herbs in gaseous form  and thus these chemicals go to the gods that are present as different energies or abilities inside the human organism. These chemical influence the body chemistry and bring about the desired effect.

the name of a diety
bijas or bija mantras
Aloud
Silently

Silent Japa, Known as Upanshu Japa is supposed to be more powerful than japa said aloud. An easy way to exercise silent japa is to perform japa aloud for a period of time and decrease volume of the sound and gradually start doing it silently.
strong Using a Mala for Japa strong
In doing  with a mala, one should observe the following guidelines

Mala should be used by the right hand.
The Index finger and the little finger should not touch the beads
Beads should be held by the middle finger and ring finger and should be turned with the help of the thumb
There is always an extra bead hanging outside the row of beads, whose total number is usually 108, This 109th bead is called Sumeru
Aspirant should start the Japa mala at the first bead next to sumeru and should end on the last bead before sumeru
If the aspirant has to Japa mala twice he should turn mala and make the last bead (the one which he ended his first round of mala) become the first bead for starting the second round of the mala
Type of Mala beads
Mala, the counting device for japa, is generally made of 108 beads. The material that the beads are made of has an effect on the body chemistry.

Possible material include

Tulsi wood
Sandalwood
Lotus Seeds
Rudraksha

Coral
Pearl
Crystal or Sphatik

Small malas, called sumirni are made of fewer beads, although the number is divisible into 108. For example a sumirni is made of 27 beads. 108 repetitious of a mantra completes sumirni four times. A malas can be made of 54 beads in which case two malas make one japa or 108 repetitions.

Tulsi mala is best for believer s of Lord Vishnu, Ram, Krishna or hanuman

Rudraksha mala is for believers in Lord Shiva and Shakti

Sandalwood mala is common

For Shanti Karma, pearl mala or coral mala is very effective. Coral mala is good for worship and japa done to attain wealth

Rudraksha is supposed to be most beneficial Japa mala and even better than a mala made for Silver, gold, coral or pearls. The rudraksha should be neither very small nor very big.
How to Use Japa mala
Besides being a counting device, a mala is a good centering device. Engagement of the fingertips is engagement of consciousness. Mala practice creates a habitual centered state of consciousness.

A mala japa very frequently gets charged with energy after it has been used for. If one has done 125000 japa one mala, that mala itself becomes a Siddha (charged with energy) and gets energy by wearing it, also the mala conditions the brain so that each time you see it, reminds you of your mantra.

For starting a new japa, a new mala should be used, however if the mantra remains the same, the same mala can be used for generations.

Sri Yantra Gold Plated

Shree Yantra and Benefits of Shree Yantra

The Worship of Shri Vidya has been Popular in India from very ancient times. Swami Guarpad the teacher of Adi Shankaracharya was a worshipper of Shri Vidya. He initiated Shankara into the worship of Shri Vidya and Shankara wrote a very enlightening book on this subject, called Saundariya Lahiri. The Worship of Shri Vidya has been Popular among Shaktas, Vedantacharyas, Vaishnavas and Shaivas.

The third Mahavidya out of the ten known as Shodashi is Shri Vidya. She is known by various names – Sundari, Lalita, Tripursundari, Shodashi, and Bala. To worship Shri Vidya one has to understand her yantra, known as Shri yantra, Shri Chakra, or Lalita Chakra. The Worship of Shri Yantra, the method of constructing it, and its complete explanation are given in Saundariya Lahiri. In the scripture, Lalita Sahasranaam one can also find the method of constructing a Shri Yantra.
